Family photoshoot — Ibiza

It works out better, not worse. I don't expect a three-year-old to pose; I expect them to run, jump and laugh, and that's exactly what I photograph. I turn the session into a game —chasing waves, hiding behind a rock, blowing sand— and shoot in bursts so I don't miss the gesture. The portraits where everyone looks come in the natural pauses, with no one forced.

Early in the morning or in the golden hour before sunset. In those windows the sun is low, the light golden and soft, and the temperature far more bearable for the little ones than midday. As a bonus, beaches like Comte or Las Salinas are emptier, so the kids have space and we get better backdrops. We always avoid the central hours of July and August.

You don't need to match exactly; a coordinated palette looks better than a uniform. Light, natural tones —white, beige, soft blue, green— work beautifully with Ibiza's light and water, and avoid big busy prints that distract. If you're unsure, send me photos of the clothes beforehand and I'll help you combine them. And always: keep the kids comfortable.

Yes, and they're great fun. With big groups I choose a spacious location like Las Salinas or an open stretch of Cala Comte, where everyone fits comfortably. We alternate portraits of each family, photos of the kids playing together and a couple of full-group shots. We need a bit more time, so we quote it by the number of people when you book.
