Eloping, on Ibiza

An elopement is a wedding stripped to the essentials: the two of you, the words and the landscape. No guest list, no protocol, no clock running the day. Ibiza is one of the best places in the Mediterranean for it, because it pairs coastal drama with the intimacy of hidden coves.

The island has an intensity that matches the decision to run away and marry: the silhouette of Es Vedrà cut against the sunset, the walls of Dalt Vila at night, a cove where you hear only the water. It's a backdrop with character, not a generic set — and it looks as good in the photos today as it will thirty years from now.

How we build the day

An elopement isn't just a session — it's a small day we design together. The Es Vedrà viewpoint, above Cala d'Hort, gives the island's most iconic sunset for the vows. The lanes and walls of Dalt Vila bring a historic, intimate setting. And a cove like Cala Comte or Cala Salada offers turquoise water to finish barefoot at the shore.

We usually chain two or three locations across the afternoon, ending in the west to catch the sunset. Between moves there's time to breathe, toast and simply be; I work documentary-style, capturing what happens without interrupting it, with a few guided portraits when the light calls for them.

If you want to truly close the circle, I coordinate the rest: an officiant for a symbolic ceremony, a small bouquet, hair and make-up, a table for two with sea views. You decide how far the day goes; I make sure it's captured.

Season, format and delivery

The season runs May to October. September and early October are ideal: mild sea, long sunsets and far fewer people than July and August. The day revolves around the western sunset, which is when Es Vedrà and the coves are at their best.

An elopement is quoted by project, because every couple builds a different day: number of hours, locations, whether there's a symbolic ceremony, video, drone or vendor coordination. A typical shape is three to six hours of coverage across two or three settings.
