Why Seville is Andalusia's photographic gem
Seville concentrates Spain's greatest diversity of Mudéjar-Andalusi architecture in a compact historic center: the Real Alcázar (UNESCO Heritage, Game of Thrones and Star Wars location), the largest Gothic cathedral in the world with the Giralda, Plaza de España (Naboo in Star Wars Episode II), and Santa Cruz quarter with its narrow streets and whitewashed patios.
Andalusian light has a particular quality: warm-golden all day in autumn-winter-spring, brutally vertical in summer. Seville works perfectly for photography 8 months a year (October-May) and very poorly in July-August without extreme schedule discipline.
For photography, Seville offers compositions impossible in other Spanish cities: Mudéjar arches with polychrome tiles, orange trees in church patios, whitewashed façades with red bougainvilleas, circular plazas with perfect symmetry.
