Granada is a city you walk as a family with ease: the gentle Albaicín slopes, squares where children run while the Alhambra glows behind, and a mountain air that makes everyone breathe better. For a family portrait, it offers setting and calm in equal measure.

The best family photos aren't the ones where everyone stares still at the camera, but the in-between ones: the child laughing, the parents reaching for each other, the hug that happens by itself. My job is to spark that movement and be ready when it comes.

Where and how we work with kids

I pick areas that work for all ages. The Paseo de los Tristes, at the foot of the Alhambra, is flat and open, ideal for little ones to move. The Albaicín squares and white lanes give pretty corners free of traffic, and a carmen with a garden offers shade and colour.

Viewpoints like San Nicolás we keep for a couple of quick frames with the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada behind, since they tend to be busier. The point is not to box the kids into poses: I let them explore and the family arranges itself around them.

I move at play pace, not rigid-session pace. If we need to stop for an ice cream or a break, we stop — and often those pauses give the best photos.

Season, length and delivery

Spring and autumn are ideal for temperature and soft light; in summer we go at sunrise or late afternoon so the children don't suffer the heat. The golden hour before sunset flatters everyone and leaves the viewpoints calmer.

A family session lasts around an hour, the time the youngest can manage without tiring. You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos in five to ten days, ready to print or send to the grandparents.
