Maternity photoshoot — Ibiza

The sweet spot is between weeks 28 and 34, in the third trimester. In that range the bump already has a round, lovely shape, but you still move comfortably to pose and walk to the location. If you're expecting twins, we usually bring it forward a little. The key is not to leave it to the very end: close to the due date, tiredness and swelling make the session less comfortable.

Flowing fabrics that hug the bump work best: long chiffon or knit dresses that mark the curve, in neutral or natural tones that match the island light. Long chiffon flies beautifully in the sunset breeze on the coast. I recommend avoiding big prints and very loose clothing that hides the bump. If you're unsure, send me photos beforehand and we choose together; I can also point you to where to rent maternity dresses.

Not at all, it's designed for the opposite. I choose easy-access locations with no walking, and we work with plenty of breaks so you can sit and rest whenever you need. The poses are soft and comfortable, never forced, and I adapt everything to how you're feeling. The idea is for you to enjoy a lovely, calm time, not to end up exhausted. If at any point you want to stop, we stop.

Of course, and they're some of the loveliest photos. The couple's closeness with hands on the bump, or an older sibling kissing the belly while waiting for their little brother or sister, fill the session with real emotion. We combine portraits of the mother-to-be alone with couple and family photos. Just let me know at booking who's coming, so I set aside the right time and plan poses for everyone.
