Mallorca: three microclimates in a single island
Mallorca concentrates almost every Mediterranean visual scenario into 3,640 km²: the Serra de Tramuntana (UNESCO World Heritage mountain with thousand-year-old olives), virgin coves in the southeast, stone villages like Valldemossa and Deià, historic inland fincas, and Palma with Gothic cathedral facing the sea. This variety lets you structure a session across three microclimates in a single day.
Mallorcan light has a distinctive quality: sun sits higher than on Costa Brava or Costa Blanca, meaning slightly shorter but warmer blue hour, with golden tones reminiscent of Tuscany without the crowds. Tramuntana light at sunset is especially cinematic.
For photography this translates to compositions matched by no other Spanish destination in variety: ochre stone walls against deep blue skies, century-old olives as natural subject, vertical cliffs over deep sea, and Mediterranean architecture without tourist saturation when you choose the right zone.
Best photo spots in Mallorca
Cap de Formentor: northern tip, vertical cliffs over deep blue sea. Free access, best at sunrise (5:50-7:30 in June).
Sa Foradada (Deià): the "pierced rock". 30-minute downhill hike from Son Marroig. Sunset 19:30-20:45 May through August.
Valldemossa: ochre stone village in heart of Tramuntana. Carrer Blanquerna and Plaça del Pare Cerdà offer cinematic settings.
Es Trenc (south): Caribbean-style virgin beach. No permit for small groups.
Sóller and Port de Sóller: village with historic tram, fishing port. For "Mediterranean village classic" look.
Mirador des Colomer (Formentor): elevated platform with view of Cap de Formentor and Cala Figuera.
Palma — La Seu Cathedral from Parc de la Mar: blue light reflected on water at sunset.

Reviews in Mallorca
"Perfect elopement in Mallorca, just the two of us and the photographer. Dreamy photos in a hidden cove. The best decision we made."
"Shoot of a sea-view penthouse, including drone shots at sunset. The difference from the previous agent's phone photos is night and day."
