I don't know how to pose — will I look stiff in the photos?

It's the most common worry, and the answer is no. I don't ask for magazine poses; I give small cues — where to look, what to do with your hands, when to breathe — and let the natural gestures appear between frames. Most of my favourite portraits come in those seconds when someone relaxes and laughs at their own shyness.

Is the futuristic Calatrava backdrop or the old town better?

It depends on the feel you want. The Ciudad de las Artes gives clean, modern, very graphic portraits, with white lines and water reflections. The old town, around the Plaza de la Virgen, gives something warmer, more romantic and timeless among stone and lanterns. The good thing about Valencia is that in a single session we can touch both worlds without travelling far.

Can I change outfits during the session?

Yes. One simple change fits into a standard session if we plan the areas sensibly — for instance, a more urban look for Calatrava and a more relaxed one for the beach. I recommend solid colours and fabrics that move in the air; avoid large logos and busy prints. If you want two or three full changes, we extend the time a little and lock it in at booking.

Do the photos include skin retouching?

Every final image gets careful editing of colour, light and contrast, plus natural retouching: I remove shine, a stray blemish or a heavy under-eye shadow, but I keep your texture and your features. I'm not after plastic skin — I want you to recognise yourself and look good. If you need deeper retouching for a specific use, we discuss it beforehand and I handle it separately.

Portraits in the light of Valencia

Few cities let you cross from the future to a fifteenth-century courtyard in ten minutes.

A good portrait isn't about impossible poses; it's about looking like you on your best day. I work with natural light and simple cues so your hands, eyes and posture relax, and the result feels close rather than manufactured.

The mix of Calatrava's architecture, gardens and sea gives your portraits a backdrop with character without slipping into the touristy. You arrive, we talk for five minutes, and from there it's just walking and shooting.

Where we shoot and how the session runs

We usually start among the walkways and pools of the Calatrava complex, where the white lines and reflections build a graphic, modern backdrop. Then we cross into the Turia Gardens, the old riverbed turned park, for something greener and more open under the trees and bridges.

If you'd rather have the city's old soul, we set the session around the Plaza de la Virgen and the stone streets of the Carmen quarter, with the modernist façade of the Mercado Central as a nod. To finish with sea light, we head down to Malvarrosa beach or the El Cabanyal neighbourhood and its painted fishermen's houses.

A portrait session lasts around an hour and a half and covers one or two areas without rushing. You don't need any experience in front of the camera: I set the pace, suggest small gestures, and leave room for the moments when you forget you're being photographed.

Season, time, delivery and price

Valencia has mild weather nearly all year, and spring and autumn are ideal: clear skies, pleasant temperatures and fewer people. The golden hour, just before sunset, is when Calatrava's white concrete turns warm and skin looks its best; in summer sunrise gives the same light with empty locations.

A portrait session runs about an hour and a half. You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos, ready to print or share, within five to ten days.
