What's the difference between a lifestyle session and a classic portrait?

A portrait focuses on you looking at the camera, with considered poses. Lifestyle focuses on what you do: strolling, laughing, sharing a coffee, walking along the beach. I don't interrupt the scene, I accompany it, so the photos tell a story rather than show a single pose. It's ideal if posing makes you uncomfortable or you want memories that taste of real life.

We're coming with small kids — does it still work?

It works especially well. With children the lifestyle approach is best, because I don't ask them to sit still: I let them play, run through the Turia Gardens or splash at the shore, and I capture what happens. I plan the session around their good hour, avoid them being hungry or sleepy, and keep the pace brisk so it feels like a fun outing rather than a studio session.

Comfortable and coherent with each other, without matching exactly. Soft, natural tones work very well — beige, white, blue, terracotta — pairing with the golden stone of the old town and the Mediterranean light. Avoid big logos and loud prints, and choose clothes you can move freely in, because there's a fair bit of walking. If in doubt, send me photos of the looks and I'll help you choose.

Can we include a place that means something to us?

Of course, and it's usually what gives the session its soul. If you have a Carmen café where you met, a Turia bench or a corner of El Cabanyal with a story, we put it in the route. Just tell me when we plan and we map a logical path so that the meaningful places and the good light line up in time.

A lifestyle session isn't a posed shoot, it's a story. Instead of looking at the camera, you do what you actually do — walk, laugh, share something — and I move around capturing the gestures that define you.

The result is images that feel like your life rather than an advert: close, bright and carrying the Mediterranean flavour of Valencia inside them.

Where I'll take you

We usually start at the Mercado Central, among the fruit stalls and the bustle beneath the modernist domes — perfect for images full of life and colour. From there we head into the stone streets of the Carmen and the Plaza de la Virgen, where light bounces between the façades and everything breathes old city.

The Turia Gardens are the green heart of the route: the old riverbed, now a nine-kilometre park, ideal for walking, cycling or lying on the grass with the bridges behind. If the session is family or couple, this is where the loosest moments appear.

To close with a sea feel we go down to El Cabanyal, with its painted fishermen's houses, and to Malvarrosa beach at sunset. A lifestyle session runs around two hours and we design it around your plan: breakfast, a walk, a swim — whatever you actually do.

When, how long and what you receive

Valencia is kind almost all year; spring and autumn give the best balance of soft light and few people. For lifestyle I love the first hour of the morning — the city waking up, the market opening, the streets empty — or the golden hour before sunset, when everything turns warm.

A session lasts around two hours and covers two or three settings at your pace. There's no rush and no rigid script: we set a light plan and leave room for the spontaneous.
