The Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias is one of Spain's finest natural sets for a fashion image: sculpted white concrete, Calatrava's curved lines, water mirroring the sky, and an almost science-fiction sense of volume. Put a garment in front of that and the photo already has editorial scale.
A fashion image isn't just portraying a person: it's building an atmosphere where the clothing, the body, the light and the backdrop all tell the same thing. I treat the frame like a magazine page, thinking about negative space, silhouette and gesture.
Within a few kilometres Valencia gives me three visual worlds — the white futurism, the golden stone of the old town and the beach light — to build an editorial with real variety without leaving the city.
How we build the editorial
Before the shoot we define a concept: references, palette, number of looks and the story we want to tell. With that I choose the locations and time, and prepare a lighting plan that uses the architecture rather than fighting it.
The central block is usually the Ciudad de las Artes — the white walkways of the Science Museum, the arches of the Umbracle, the reflections of the Hemisfèric — and we complement it with the texture of El Cabanyal or the old-town streets near the Plaza de la Virgen for a contrast of worlds. The modernist Mercado Central works very well for a look with colour.
On set I direct pose, movement and rhythm, and shoot with the edit already in mind. I work well solo or with a team — stylist, MUA, model — and coordinate the timing so each look gets its best light.
Light, timing, delivery and price
Calatrava's white behaves differently by the hour: midday gives hard contrast and a graphic feel, the golden hour washes it warm, and the morning's blue sky leaves it clean. We choose the window according to the concept. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for shooting several hours.
A fashion-image session lasts two to three hours depending on the number of looks. You receive a gallery of selected images edited with editorial-grade colour treatment, within five to ten days, plus finer retouching on the key images.
A fashion session in Valencia starts from €150 for a simple image project; productions with several looks, a team or commercial use are quoted to measure based on hours, rights and deliverables. We settle it all clearly before shooting.
