The best photo spots in Valencia (2026)

From the City of Arts to Malvarrosa: a guide to the best Valencia locations — ideal time, what to avoid, and local photographer tips.

The best photo spots in Valencia (2026)

Valencia blends the futuristic and the Mediterranean like few cities: Calatrava's white architecture, a riverbed turned into a nine-kilometre garden, a golden-stone old town, and wide sandy beaches. That variety lets you change scene completely within a single session. These are the locations we recommend most, with the best time and a trick for each.

1. City of Arts and Sciences

Valencia's icon: Calatrava's white structures mirrored in turquoise-blue water pools. It is the most spectacular and recognisable backdrop in the city, perfect for a modern, minimalist look.

Go at sunrise: the complex is empty, the pools are still, and you get perfect reflections with no people behind. By mid-morning the tourists arrive and the blue pools fill with reflections of people. Trick: crouch to water level to double the curves of the Hemisfèric in the reflection.

2. Turia Gardens

The old Turia riverbed is now a nine-kilometre park crossing the whole city: lawns, palm trees, historic bridges, and quiet corners. The natural location par excellence — free and shaded in summer.

It works at any hour thanks to the tree shade, but the prettiest light falls in late afternoon by the Pont de les Flors. Ideal for relaxed family and couple sessions, away from the downtown bustle.

3. El Carmen — the old town

The Carmen quarter is medieval Valencia: cobbled alleys, the Serranos and Quart towers, street-art façades, and hidden squares. It brings character, colour, and a one-of-a-kind historic backdrop.

Best time is early morning, when the streets are empty and light bounces softly between façades. Trick: find the old doors and murals as a backdrop, and dress in contrasting tones to stand out against the stone.

4. Malvarrosa Beach

Valencia's city beach offers wide sand, an open horizon, and the classic promenade with the Cabanyal fishermen's houses behind. Perfect for bright, summery, relaxed sessions.

Sunrise is magical here: the sun rises straight over the sea and you have the beach to yourself. For sunset, the light turns warm but the sun sets inland, so make the most of the pastel sky over the water. Pair it with the Cabanyal quarter and its colourful tiled façades.
