That's completely normal, and not a problem. I'm not after your dog posing like a statue: the best pet photos come from movement and spontaneity. I shoot in burst to freeze the right gesture, use a telephoto so as not to crowd it, and let it explore. With your help — voice, treats, its toy — we get the moments of attention we need. Your dog's energy and character are exactly what we want to show, not make disappear.

Yes, and for cats I almost always recommend doing the session at home. It's their territory, they're relaxed and behave naturally, which is exactly what gives the best photos. I work with natural window light or a soft light, no startling flashes, and go slowly, respecting their pace. The same goes for older or shy dogs. If your animal is happier in its own environment, we go to your environment: the pet's comfort always comes first.

Of course, and it's often the loveliest part. The bond between you and your pet is the real story: a walk together through the Retiro, a hug, that moment of connection when it looks at you. We do a mix of portraits of the animal alone and photos of you together. It also works with the whole family or several pets at once; we plan it at booking to set aside enough time so nobody is rushed.

Whatever your pet knows best: its favourite treats, the toy it loves most and, if it's a dog, its lead. The treats and toy are key to getting eyes to camera and alert ears at just the right moment. Bring water if we're going to Casa de Campo or it's hot. And come in comfortable clothes yourself, because you'll be crouching and moving around a fair bit. The rest — light, angles, patience — is on me.
