There's a photo that almost never gets taken and is later sorely missed: grandparents, parents and children together, in the same image, at this point in life. When the whole family finally coincides, it's worth stopping in time.
Madrid is a good meeting point: well connected for those coming from afar, with accessible parks and corners without impossible stairs, keeping the grandparents comfortable in mind. The city offers just the right dignity and warmth for a portrait that spans generations.
You come to be together, which is already plenty. I take care of making that day last for those who come after.
Where we do it, with everyone in mind
For a multi-generation session I choose comfortable, flat places. The Parque del Retiro is ideal: benches, shade, smooth paths and the lake or Palacio de Cristal in the background, with plenty of room for children to play while the elders rest. The Plaza de España gardens also work very well — central and accessible.
I work in short blocks: first the big portrait of the whole family, while energy and attention are high; then the subgroups — grandparents with grandchildren, the siblings, the couples — and at the end I let the children play and catch the spontaneous scenes that are worth so much.
I compose with levels — benches, steps, someone seated, others standing — so everyone shows well and no one is hidden. I take special care of the grandparents: pauses, seats nearby and no uncomfortable poses.
When to come, how long and what you receive
Spring and autumn are the kindest seasons for grandparents: mild temperatures and no extreme heat. In summer we go early or at sunset to avoid the strong midday sun; winter offers blue skies but we wrap up well. The golden hour before sunset gives a warm light that suits all ages beautifully.
The session lasts around one hour to ninety minutes. Gathering so many people takes time, so we go calmly, with pauses for the eldest and the youngest, without overwhelming anyone.
You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos, ready to print and share among the whole family, within five to ten days. The generations session starts from €180; if you're a very large group or want a second location, we adjust it at booking so everything happens unhurried.
