Proposal photography — Madrid

I arrive before you and position myself fifteen to forty metres away with a telephoto lens, dressed like any tourist watching the sunset. In busy spots like Templo de Debod nobody notices one more person with a camera — there are hundreds watching the sun go down. We agree in advance on the direction you'll arrive from so I have the sun and background in my favour, and a discreet signal from you marks the start. Your partner only sees you.

I give you a couple of minutes to yourselves — the hug, the tears, the first phone calls — while still shooting from a distance, because that's where the most genuine reactions are. Then I come over, congratulate you and, if you feel like it, we do a calm twenty- to thirty-minute mini-session around the area, whether down through the Debod gardens or strolling towards Plaza de España. Relaxed and with the ring on, that's when the portraits you'll want to frame appear.

My favourite is Templo de Debod at golden hour: the sky ignites behind the Egyptian stones and mirrors in the water, a postcard hard to beat. If you want it more intimate and green, the Retiro's Crystal Palace late in the afternoon is gorgeous and more tucked-away. I calculate the exact time by the date and season so the sun drops just as you say the words. In summer, sunrise is the calm alternative.

The basic proposal, from €170, includes covering the surprise moment from a distance and a short couple session right after, with a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos delivered within five to ten days, ready to share or print. You can extend it with more time, a second location, video or coordinating family to appear after the yes — we quote that to your measure when you book, with no surprises.
