In Madrid I shoot the newborn calmly and with natural light, whether in your home or accommodation, or in a gentle outdoor session when the baby is a little older. The city also offers quiet parks and clean light for the first family outings.
You're learning to be parents and that's already enough. I take care of making sure these days aren't erased.
What the session is like and where we do it
For a newborn (ideally in the first two weeks) the natural thing is to work at home: a warm setting, no travelling, with the baby calm in their own environment. I use the window light and build soft scenes — the baby asleep, fingers over mum's hand, the siblings' first hug — with no forced poses or acrobatics.
If the baby is already a few weeks or a couple of months old, we can head to a quiet park like the Retiro or the Plaza de España gardens for some first outdoor family photos, with natural light and plenty of calm.
I go slowly and at the baby's pace: breaks to feed, to settle, to sleep. There's no clock. The best newborn photos come when everyone is relaxed and at ease.
When, how long and what you receive
A newborn is best photographed in the first two weeks, while they still curl up and sleep deeply; it's wise to book during pregnancy and let me know at birth so we can set the day. For at-home photos the season doesn't matter: we always work with natural indoor light. If we head to the park, spring and autumn are the most comfortable.
The newborn session lasts between an hour and a half and two hours, because we go at the baby's pace with all the breaks needed. A session with a slightly older baby outdoors is shorter, around an hour.
You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos, with a soft, warm finish, within five to ten days. The session starts from €160; if you'd like to include the siblings, grandparents or a printed album to gift, we adjust it at booking.
