My kids are very active and never sit still — is that a problem?

On the contrary, that's what I'm after. I don't try to keep them still; I let them run, jump and play, and I work with it rather than against it. Photos of children laughing as they race through the Retiro are worth far more than stiff, bored ones. I come with plenty of patience and no rush, so their energy plays in our favour.

What clothing works best for a family?

What works best is a coordinated but not identical colour palette: earth tones, beige, muted blue, olive green, which go together and with Madrid's stone and greenery. Avoid big logos and very loud prints, which distract. And above all, comfortable clothes the children can play in — if they're at ease, it shows on their faces.

What if my baby cries or won't cooperate that day?

It's perfectly normal and doesn't worry me. We take breaks to feed, sleep or calm down, with no clock pressing; a relaxed baby gives better photos than a pressured one. If the day really goes wrong, we find another slot or moment. My priority is that both the children and you are comfortable — that's where the good images come from.

We're a big family with grandparents — does everyone fit?

Yes, I love big families. The Retiro has plenty of room to compose a large group without it looking cramped, and I pick steps, benches or a tree to create levels so everyone shows well. Larger groups usually benefit from a bit more time; we discuss it at booking and I plan the composition in advance so no one ends up in a corner.

Children change from one summer to the next and then never quite look that way again. A family session freezes that particular age — the voice, the gestures, the way they cling to you — so that years from now you remember it exactly as it was.

Madrid is a city of families: huge parks, squares to run around in and shady green spaces for the little ones. They don't need to behave like in a studio; here they can be themselves, and the best photos come from precisely that.

You come to have a good time together. I capture what you truly are as a family.

Where we do it and how I work with children

The Parque del Retiro is the star spot for families: meadows to run in, the lake's rowing boats, the Palacio de Cristal and shaded paths. There's plenty of room for children to play and I stay at a distance to catch it without them feeling watched. For something more urban and bright, the Plaza de España and its gardens work wonderfully too.

I don't ask everyone to look at the camera and say cheese. I suggest games — chasing pigeons, feeding imaginary boats, tickling — and meanwhile I shoot the real laughter. I also take a few calmer, more posed portraits, but the heart of the session is play.

If you have a baby or a little one who tires, we set the pace to their mood: pauses, a snack, cuddles. The session revolves around them, not the other way around.

When to come, how long and what you receive

Spring and autumn are ideal: mild temperatures for the children and greenery in the Retiro. In summer we avoid the midday heat and go early or at sunset; Madrid's winter offers blue skies and clean light. The golden hour, before sunset, gives the warmest, most flattering light for family portraits.

The session lasts about an hour — a child's attention span allows for that, and more begins to tire them. We go unhurried, with pauses, making the most of the moments when they're in a good mood.

You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos, ready to print and share with the grandparents, within five to ten days. The family session starts from €180; if you'd like a second location, a pet, or a longer session with several changes, we adjust it at booking.
