Children change from one summer to the next, and today's hugs don't come back. A family session is the way to keep exactly how you are now: the laughter, the gestures, that way of being together that you'll miss a few years from now.
Barcelona is a setting that handles little ones well: parks with room to run, streets with charm and a beach to burn off energy. The Mediterranean light is warm and kind, and everything is close, so the day doesn't drag for the smallest ones.
I'm not after perfect, still families. I'm after yours, real, with its lovely chaos included — and that's where the best photos come from.
Where and how the shoot runs
Parc de la Ciutadella is my favourite for families: huge lawns, shade trees, the monumental fountain and ducks that keep the kids busy while I shoot. There's room to run and play, exactly what they need to loosen up.
For something more colourful, Park Güell's mosaic terraces are unmistakably Barcelona. And if the family loves the sea, Barceloneta beach or Bogatell in late afternoon bring sand, play and that golden light that suits everyone.
The session moves at the kids' pace. I don't force poses or eye contact: I suggest games — chase, tickles, tossing the little one in the air — and capture the real reaction. For the parents, calm portraits in the gaps. Everyone relaxed, nobody bored.
Season, duration and what you receive
Barcelona gives good weather almost all year. For families, May–June and September–October are ideal: neither cold nor the oppressive heat of summer. We work in the first hour of the morning or late afternoon, when the light is soft and the kids are in a better mood.
A family session lasts about an hour. It's the right amount of time: enough to vary and get group, couple and individual shots, but without the little ones tiring. We usually stay in one location, or two very close ones, so nobody is worn out by travel.
You receive a digital gallery of hand-edited high-resolution photos, ready in five to ten days to print, send to the grandparents or hang at home. From €180; if you're a large family, want to include pets or add a location, we tailor that at booking.
