The pre-wedding, in Madrid

The pre-wedding session is the perfect rehearsal: an afternoon to get to know one another in front of the camera, loosen up and discover how you move together before the big day. When the wedding comes I won't be a stranger with a lens, but someone you've already laughed with.

Madrid sets a stage with two opposite, complementary souls. The classic and noble — stone, boulevards, clean sunsets — and the nocturnal, electric one of Gran Vía, the neon and the lit façades. We can tell a romantic story by day and a cinematic one by night, in the same city.

These images stand on their own: for the invitations, for a pre-album, to hang one at home. And along the way, they help us both arrive at the wedding in tune.

The two faces of the city

For the romantic, luminous side, the Templo de Debod at sunset is Madrid's most cinematic place: the sky opens into oranges, the water reflects and your silhouette is cut against the temple. The Parque del Retiro, with the Palacio de Cristal and its tree-lined avenues, brings greenery, calm and a strolling mood.

For the side with character, the Malasaña and Chueca neighbourhoods bring murals, colour and urban style, perfect for a modern couple. The stone of Plaza Mayor and the central arcades add classicism, and the rooftop of the Círculo de Bellas Artes gifts the whole city as a backdrop.

At night the electric magic arrives: Gran Vía with its lights, the Metrópolis façade, a wet street giving back the reflections. We combine a couple of these locations according to your style, chaining them with the light in our favour.

When, how long and what you receive

The golden hour at sunset is the heart of the session, and if we chain into the night, we use the blue of twilight and then the neon. Spring and autumn give the best weather; in summer we start later, as the heat drops; Madrid's clear winter is crisp and lovely.

A pre-wedding runs an hour and a half to two hours, with time for two locations and a change of clothes if you like. Unhurried: the goal is for you to relax, not to stack up poses.

You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution images, delivered in five to ten days, ideal for invitations, save the dates or an album. The pre-wedding session starts from 190€; a second location or night stretch and extra wardrobe available, all settled at booking.

FAQ

What's the point of a pre-wedding shoot if we'll already have photos on the wedding day?
It has three clear advantages. First: you get used to the camera and to how I work, so on the wedding day you'll be far more relaxed and the photos will come out more natural. Second: you have beautiful images in good time for the invitations, the save the date or the wedding website. And third: it's an afternoon just for the two of you amid the stress of preparations, with no guests or schedules. It's an investment in how the big day will turn out.
Can we combine day and night photos in the same session?
It's exactly what works best in Madrid and one of my favourite combinations. We start at golden hour in a luminous spot like the Templo de Debod, use the blue of twilight and finish with the Gran Vía lights once it's night. You get two very different aesthetics — romantic and cinematic — in a single afternoon. It needs a bit more time, so we plan it at booking.
What should we wear for the session?
I recommend two looks that complement each other without being identical: neutral, elegant tones that go with Madrid's stone and sunsets, avoiding very loud patterns that distract. If we chain into the night, a second, slightly dressier look shines under the neon. Before the session I send a short guide with ideas and, if in doubt, we talk it over. The key is to be comfortable and feel like yourselves.
How long before the wedding should we do the pre-wedding shoot?
The ideal is two to four months before. That leaves plenty of time to receive and edit the images for the invitations or save the dates, and the session stays fresh by the time the big day arrives. If you want it just as an experience to loosen up, any moment from a few weeks before works. We coordinate it with your preparations calendar so it doesn't clash with the most intense moments.
