At night Barcelona changes character. The Gothic Quarter's lanes empty out and the golden stone is bathed in warm lamplight; Passeig de Gràcia lights up its windows and modernist façades; and from the Bunkers del Carmel the city spreads out like a sea of lights down to the actual sea.
For night portraits that's gold: pools of pointed light, reflections on wet ground, neon and lamps acting as a living backdrop. The result has a cinematic atmosphere that daylight simply can't give.
It's the perfect session if you want something other than a classic afternoon portrait — more intimate, more urban, with the lit-up city as a co-star beside you.
How we work with light at night
Night portraiture is, above all, a matter of light. We start in the blue hour, just after sunset, when the sky still holds a deep tone and the city lights are already on: it's the best balance between background and face. Then, in full dark, we play with the sources the street gives.
I use a small portable light to softly lift your face without killing the mood, and let lamps, shop windows and neon paint the background. I look for wet ground for reflections, frames with street lamps and points of light behind you that turn into bokeh.
Each area gives its own character. The lanes of the Gothic Quarter and El Born offer stone, lamplight and cinematic solitude. Passeig de Gràcia and Casa Batlló bring city lights and lit modernist façades. And the Bunkers del Carmel offer the panorama of Barcelona glowing behind you.
Duration, delivery and price
The session runs between one and a half and two hours, usually starting in the blue hour to catch the sky still holding colour and then carrying on into the night city. In that time we cover one or two nearby areas — for example the Gothic Quarter and El Born, or Passeig de Gràcia and its surroundings.
You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos, with a careful night edit: clean colour despite mixed lighting, controlled noise and the cinematic atmosphere intact. Delivery is within five to ten days.
Pricing starts from €150. It includes the session, the portable light, the direction during the shoot and the edit of the final selection. If you want to add an extra location, head up to the Bunkers or expand the gallery, we adjust that at booking.
