When night falls, Alicante changes its skin. The Explanada de España lamps light up the rippling marble under the palms, the port and marina fill with reflections on the water, and the lit Santa Bárbara castle crowns the city like a beacon. For a night portrait, that mix of warm light, water and stone is gold.

Night portraiture has an intimacy daylight can't give: fewer people, deeper tones, a cinematic atmosphere. Here we play with the city lights as a living set — the bokeh of the lamps, the glow of the port, the coloured façades of Santa Cruz — to build images with character and mystery.

How we light a night portrait

We start at the blue hour, that brief window after sunset when the sky still holds a deep blue and the city lights are already on. It's the best balance between background and figure, and from there we move into full night depending on the effect we want.

We combine Alicante's existing lights with our own: a diffused flash or a warm LED panel to lift you off the background without killing the atmosphere. The Explanada lamps act as fill light, the port reflections become bokeh behind you, and the lit castle serves as an epic backdrop from the viewpoints.

I direct every frame — posture, gaze, where to lean — and work with careful exposures so the skin stays clean and the city lights stay sharp. We move through the Explanada, the port promenade, the Santa Cruz alleys and, if you want the panorama, the climb toward the castle.

Logistics, timing and price

The session lasts around two hours and starts just before sunset to catch the blue hour. Everything is close: from the Explanada to the port is a few minutes on foot, and the Santa Cruz alleys are a step away. If you want the view from the Santa Bárbara castle, we plan the lift or car climb in advance.

The price is from 150€ and includes direction, lighting gear, frame selection and professional editing with a colour treatment built for night. We advise on clothing — solid tones and fabrics with a little sheen look especially good under artificial light.

You receive a high-resolution digital gallery in five to ten days, ready to share or print. If you'd prefer a large-format wall print, we prepare it as an extra.
