The first year flies by and deserves a celebration to match. The cake smash is exactly that: letting the little one discover a whole cake with their hands, eat it, squash it and laugh — and capturing that happy chaos that only happens once.
In Madrid we set the scene with natural light and cheerful colours, whether in a simple set or in a bright corner of your home. The city also adds beautiful parks for combining the party with some outdoor photos of the birthday child.
You just bring the star in a party mood. The set, the cake and the fun mess are on me.
How we set up the party and where
The cake smash happens in a controlled set with good natural light: we choose a palette that suits the little one, set up a simple, clean backdrop and bring a cake just the right size for those little hands. We start with some portraits of the birthday child dressed up and calm, then in comes the cake — and that's where the chaotic magic begins.
I shoot the real reactions: the puzzled face at the first touch, the surprise, the laughter, the hands full of sponge. I don't direct the mess, I let it happen and document it. Every child reacts differently, and that's exactly the beautiful part.
If you fancy adding outdoor photos, before or after we can do a mini-session in the Retiro or the Plaza de España gardens, with the birthday child playing among the greenery. That way you get both the party and the memory of the year in the city.
When, how long and what you receive
The ideal moment is around the first birthday, when the little one can already sit alone but still reacts to the cake with curiosity. For the indoor set the season doesn't matter, because we control the light. If we add the park part, spring and autumn are the most comfortable, and the morning usually coincides with the child's best mood.
The session lasts around one hour to ninety minutes: we start calmly, leave room for the cake and the mess, and keep a while to clean them up and take a couple of calm final portraits. We go unhurried and always at the birthday child's pace.
You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos, with those vivid, cheerful colours, within five to ten days. The session starts from €160; the cake, props and backdrop can be included or customised — we settle that at booking according to the theme you want.
