How is fine art different from a regular portrait?

A portrait aims to capture you naturally with good light. Fine art starts from an artistic idea: an emotion, an atmosphere, a specific composition we decide beforehand. The person is part of the image, but the goal is a work with its own style, made to be looked at and printed large. That's why we spend more time on light, concept and editing.

Can I propose my own concept or idea?

Of course, and it's often the best route. If you arrive with an emotion, a colour, a reference or a story you want to tell, we turn it into an image together and choose the Alicante location that best holds it. If you'd rather be guided, I propose the concept based on your personality and the available light. Both paths work.

Is it worth going out to Isla de Tabarca for the session?

If you want an austere, maritime, people-free landscape, then yes, it's well worth it. Tabarca has open light, rock, sea and a silence you won't find in the city, ideal for contemplative images. We need to account for the boat schedule and set aside half a day, so we plan it with margin. If you'd rather not travel, sunrise on Postiguet or the port give equally strong results.

Are the images prepared for large prints?

Yes, I work them precisely for that. I shoot and edit in high resolution with a colour treatment that holds up on paper and large format, and I can deliver the files ready to print or arrange fine art copies with trusted labs. If you already know the size and medium you want, I frame and edit with that final destination in mind.

Here we're not after the quick, pretty photo. We're after a considered piece — composition, light, contained emotion — that you could hang on a wall and look at for years. It's personal photography with the soul of artwork, you as the subject and the Costa Blanca as the material.

Settings and creative process

Each concept asks for its setting. Postiguet beach at sunrise gives minimalism, clean water and sky for a serene, atmospheric image. The port and marina, with their reflections and silhouettes, suit something more melancholic and graphic. And the rock of Isla de Tabarca, if we plan the crossing, opens an austere, wide landscape, away from the city's noise.

For a more intimate, textured register, the streets of Barrio Santa Cruz and the warm shade of its walls give depth and colour. The bay views from the castle area bring scale and horizon when the idea calls for grandeur.

We work as a collaboration. Beforehand we discuss the concept — emotion, palette, references — and during the session we build each shot calmly: light, posture, the emptiness around the subject. There's time to wait for the light to be just right. The later editing, with careful colour treatment, is part of the work, not an add-on.

When to shoot, duration and delivery

For fine art, light is everything. Sunrise and the golden hour of sunset give the atmospheric quality this style needs, with long shadows and soft colour. Alicante's warm climate lets us work almost all year; late spring and early autumn offer the cleanest skies and the most calm at the locations.

A fine art session lasts between one and two hours, unhurried, because part of the process is waiting for the right light. You receive a selection of images edited with artistic treatment in high resolution, delivered within five to ten days and prepared for quality printing.
