Why Mallorca for a maternity photoshoot

A maternity photoshoot lives on soft light and a backdrop that doesn't fight the subject. Mallorca delivers exactly that: golden sunrises over the southeast coves, the filtered light of Tramuntana's centuries-old olive groves, and pale sand that bounces a warm tone onto the skin. With 300-plus sunny days a year, almost any date works if you pick the right hour.

Unlike an urban session, here pregnancy is photographed in a setting that brings genuine calm: no traffic in the background, no rush, the couple moving at their own pace. For anyone visiting the island around week 28-34, it's a perfect reason to combine rest with a keepsake that never dates.

Where we shoot and how the session works

The most comfortable maternity locations are the easy-access ones: Es Trenc and the wide southeast coves (firm sand, no rock-scrambling), the olive groves of Sóller and Valldemossa with natural shade, and Palma's seafront promenade and old-town courtyards for a more elegant register. Sa Foradada and Cap de Formentor are spectacular but involve a hike; we keep those only if you feel up to it.

The session runs 60 to 90 minutes and includes one outfit change. We work without forced posing: walking along the shore, a hand on the belly, the couple embracing with their backs to the sea. We bring a couple of flowing fabrics and dresses in case you want movement, and we plan breaks — from week 30 on, your pace sets the rhythm.

We recommend renting a car (around €25/day); from Palma almost any location is 80 minutes or less away. If you arrive without a car, we pick a spot near your accommodation to avoid extra travel.

Timing, duration and what's included

Ideal window: between week 28 and 34, when the bump is already the star but moving around is still comfortable. Spring and autumn are the best seasons; in summer we shoot only at sunrise or in the last hour of light, because the midday sun is harsh from June through August.

The guide price is around €190 and includes a 60-90 minute session, one outfit change, professional editing and delivery of 35-45 high-resolution photos via online gallery. Delivery takes 10 to 14 days; a 72-hour express option is available for a supplement.

Book 2-3 weeks ahead in high season to secure the sunrise you want. The coves fill up fast at the height of summer, so we start early: at 7:00 the light is perfect and the beach is still empty.
