Alicante makes the hard part easy: bringing grandparents, parents and grandchildren together in one comfortable, beautiful place. The Explanada de España is flat and accessible, Postiguet beach is in the centre and everything is close, so gathering three generations means no long walks or slopes for anyone.
Having grandparents, children and grandchildren in the same city doesn't happen every year. These photos keep that rare, precious moment when the whole family is complete and together, with the warm Mediterranean light as witness.
My priority is that everyone is comfortable, from the youngest to the eldest. Unhurried, with rests when needed, I capture both the formal portrait you'll want to frame and the spontaneous gestures between generations that are the soul of the session.
Comfortable locations and how we organise the group
For a large group with elders and children, the Explanada de España is the best base: flat surface, palm shade, benches to sit on and that lovely marble mosaic behind. No one has to make an effort and there's room to arrange the whole family comfortably.
If you fancy the sea, Postiguet beach has an accessible promenade beside the sand, perfect for portraits with water behind without stepping on difficult ground. The port and marina give an elegant backdrop a step away, and the Santa Cruz quarter, if the grandparents walk well, adds urban charm.
I start with the full group portrait while everyone has energy, then open up into combinations: grandparents with grandchildren, each couple, the siblings. I give clear, simple cues, take breaks and keep the mood light so the session is a good family time, not a posing chore.
Season, duration, delivery and price
Alicante's mild climate is a blessing for elders: it's rarely too cold. The kindest light arrives in late spring and early autumn. The golden hour at sunset is the favourite; in summer we pick early morning to avoid the heat, which is worth minding with older people.
The session lasts around an hour to an hour and a half, with breaks so no one tires. You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos, ready to share and print, within five to ten days — and many families order prints to give the grandparents.
The generations shoot starts from €180. If the group is very large, you'd like a second location or more portrait combinations, we adjust it to your measure at booking.
