Eloping to marry, in Seville

Seville is made for marrying in secret, your own way. The Real Alcázar and its mudéjar gardens, the tiled arches of the Plaza de España, the whitewashed, orange-lined lanes of Santa Cruz: every corner is an intimate stage where two people can vow to each other with no guests, no protocol, none of the weight of a big wedding.

An elopement isn't a trimmed-down wedding — it's a concentrated one. Just the two of you, the words that matter and a photographer who documents the whole day like a short film: the morning nerves, the vow spoken low, the first kiss as a married couple and the toast on a terrace with the Giralda behind you.

You choose the what and the how. My job is to have that day told truthfully, without you having to look at the camera even once if you'd rather not.

How we build the day

We start with the ceremony. Seville allows anything from a symbolic civil wedding in the Alcázar gardens or a Santa Cruz courtyard to private vows at sunrise in the Plaza de España, nearly empty at that hour. I help you think through the place and the timing; if you need an officiant, a florist or a string quartet, I connect you with people I trust.

I document the day in a reportage style: the preparations, the intimate ceremony, the newlyweds' walk through the lanes of Triana and along the Guadalquivir, and the celebration, whether a dinner for two or a table with a handful of loved ones. I move discreetly, without over-directing, letting the day breathe.

We set aside a stretch for portraits in the best light — golden hour over the river, reflections in the water by the Triana bridge — where I do guide you gently, so you also have those polished images you'll want to hang at home.

Season, scope and delivery

Spring and autumn are the best seasons in Seville: long days, kind temperatures and the orange trees in bloom in April. Summer is extreme, so in July and August we plan for sunrise or late afternoon. Landmark locations like the Real Alcázar require booking and a permit in advance, and we handle that together while planning.

An elopement is quoted per project, because every day is different. A typical coverage runs from four to eight hours — from the preparations to the celebration — and includes the golden-hour portraits and a full gallery of edited high-resolution images.

The full gallery is delivered in five to ten days, and I usually send you a small preview within the first forty-eight hours so you can share the news straight away. Full-day coverage, video, drone or a second day are added to measure; tell me your idea and I'll put together a clear proposal.

FAQ

Can we legally marry in Seville, or is it a symbolic ceremony?
Both are possible. A legal civil marriage in Spain for foreigners involves paperwork and waiting periods best started months ahead, so many couples coming from abroad hold a beautiful symbolic ceremony in Seville — with their own vows and an officiant — and formalise the paperwork back home. I don't handle the legal side, but I'll guide you on the usual route and recommend local wedding planners who do. We clarify it at the start of planning.
Can the ceremony or photos happen inside the Real Alcázar?
The Real Alcázar is a managed monument, so professional photos and any event require an application, a permit and, depending on use, a fee. It's possible, but it has to be arranged in advance and respect set hours and authorised areas. If you fall for that mudéjar backdrop, we organise it together; and if the timing doesn't fit, the Murillo gardens, a historic Santa Cruz courtyard or the Plaza de España at sunrise give an equally Andalusian atmosphere with far less red tape.
It's just the two of us — won't the photos feel too empty?
Quite the opposite. With no guests and no tight schedule, the whole day revolves around you, and it shows in the images: there's time for the small gestures, for an unhurried walk through Triana, for pausing in a quiet courtyard. Seville brings so much texture — tile, stone, orange trees, water — that the frame is never empty. The intimacy of an elopement is exactly what lets the photos breathe and feel like yours.
How many hours do you cover, and what does the price include?
An elopement is quoted per project because every day is unique. A typical coverage runs four to eight hours and includes preparations, the ceremony, the newlyweds' walk, golden-hour portraits and the celebration, with a full gallery of edited high-resolution photos delivered in five to ten days and a preview within the first forty-eight hours. Full day, video, drone, a second location or a second day are added to measure. Tell me your idea and I'll send a clear proposal, with no surprises.
