Birthday & Cake Smash — Ibiza

Whichever you prefer. Many families bring their own cake —often a low-sugar one made for smashing— and the touches that excite them. If you'd rather, I help out by recommending local bakers and prepare a simple, pretty setup in the colours you choose: balloons, a blanket, a garland. We coordinate it at booking so the whole thing looks cohesive and flatters the little one in the photos.

It happens more often than you'd think, and it's no problem at all. Some babies dive straight in and others stare at the cake as if to say 'we don't touch this'. Those puzzled faces are among the funniest and most endearing photos. I give them time, sometimes one of you gives the first touch to encourage them, and bit by bit they loosen up. And if they decide not to wreck it, we have lovely portraits anyway.

Both options work great. At home we control the light, backdrop and temperature, and cleaning up the mess is far more convenient —I just need an area with good window light. Outdoors, in a corner of Cala Comte or in the countryside, the photos come out bright and summery, very Ibiza, though we must pick the hour carefully to avoid strong sun. I advise you based on your accommodation and the feel you want.

Yes. Although the classic cake smash is tied to the first birthday, we do birthday sessions for children of any age. With older kids the focus shifts: instead of the 'smash', we set up a themed scene with their favourite colours and interests and photograph the birthday child enjoying it, blowing out candles or playing. Tell me the age and theme and we adapt the session completely.
