Why Mallorca for a pre-wedding shoot

The pre-wedding shoot happens before the big day, with no dress or tux, for save-the-dates, the guest website, or simply to loosen up in front of the camera before the wedding. Mallorca is an unbeatable setting: in a single morning you go from the Cap de Formentor cliffs to a Tramuntana olive grove or a turquoise cove, with Mediterranean light flattering any palette.

For many couples it's also an emotional rehearsal: you learn how you pose, which angles you like and how the photographer works, so on the wedding day you're already at ease. If you're marrying on the island, it also lets you scout real locations before settling on the ceremony spots.

Locations and how we plan the session

For a pre-wedding shoot it's common to combine two or three contrasting settings: the cobbled streets and Gothic La Seu cathedral in Palma's old town for an elegant register, a Deià or Valldemossa olive grove for something more romantic and natural, and a southeast cove or Sa Foradada to close at sunset by the sea.

We plan the route around your aesthetic: warm, rustic tones in Tramuntana, bright blues on the coast, architecture and sharp shade in the city. With no formal dress to mind, you can walk, sit on the rock or dip your feet in the water without worry, which yields far more spontaneous images.

With a rental car (around €25/day) we chain the locations into a morning or an afternoon, since almost all top spots are 80 minutes or less from Palma. If you fancy an aerial shot of the couple over the cliffs, a drone is possible with an AESA-certified pilot and permit, outside restricted zones.

Season, duration, delivery and price

Best season: spring and autumn, with mild weather and an uncrowded coast. The long, warm blue hour from May to October gives ideal light at sunset. In summer we shoot at sunrise or in the last light because the midday sun is harsh from June through August, and we start early to find the coves still empty.

The session runs 90 to 120 minutes, allows one or two outfit changes and combining several locations. The guide price is around €250 and includes professional editing and delivery of 40-60 high-resolution photos via online gallery, ready for save-the-dates and invitations.

Delivery takes 10 to 14 days, with a 72-hour express option if you need the images to print invitations in a hurry. Book 2-4 weeks ahead; if the pre-wedding shoot is during a venue-scouting trip, it's worth coordinating both in the same island visit.
