Seville, a portrait in warm light
A good portrait doesn't copy a face: it reads it. It looks for how you glance when you think no one is watching, the gesture you repeat without noticing, the light that suits you. Seville hands you the hardest thing to fake in a studio: a warm, golden light that bounces off whitewash, sand-coloured stone and tilework, drawing skin softly.
It isn't a city of generic backdrops. Every corner of the old centre has texture — old stone, orange trees, ceramic, long shadows — and that turns a portrait into something with place and character, not a photo that could be from anywhere.
You don't need to know how to pose. My job is to give you something concrete to do with your hands, your gaze, your steps, so the body relaxes and the face stops performing.
Where we shoot
The Barrio Santa Cruz is my favourite starting point for a portrait: narrow whitewashed lanes, orange trees, iron grilles and a light that filters in like a painting. It's intimate and clean, with no grand monuments competing with you. From there we step into the patios and arches of the Real Alcázar if you want colour and Mudéjar geometry behind you.
For something more architectural and graphic, Las Setas (Metropol Parasol) offer timber lines and bold shadow; the Plaza de España gives symmetry, bridges and tilework for a dressier, more elegant portrait. And on the bank of the Guadalquivir, by the Triana bridge, the background opens and the city breathes.
A typical session lasts an hour and combines two or three of these spots — they're all a few minutes apart on foot. We move unhurried, talking, and the best frames almost always come between poses, once you've forgotten the camera is there.
When, how long and what you get
Light leads. The first hour after sunrise and the last before sunset give that flattering gold; in summer sunrise is almost mandatory, because midday heat is brutal and the light is harsh. Spring and autumn are the best seasons: kind temperatures and long light.
The standard session is one hour across one or two spots in the centre, all on foot. You receive a digital gallery of edited high-resolution photos, delivered in five to ten days, ready to print or share.
An individual portrait starts from 150 €. If you want more time, more outfit changes or a third location, we adjust that at booking, with no surprises.
