Seville is a city for living slowly, and that's exactly what lifestyle family photography calls for: no posing into the camera, but catching the family just as it is among the orange trees of Santa Cruz, the tiles of Plaza de España or the cool green of María Luisa park.
Lifestyle is about what's real: tickles, chasing after the kids, stolen glances between parents, a shared ice cream. I don't interrupt those moments, I move around them and keep them.
The result is photos that years from now will give you back not a pose, but a specific afternoon: how you were, how you laughed, how small the little ones were.
What a session with kids is like
María Luisa park is the star spot for families: shade, fountains, pigeons, plenty of room for the kids to run and let off steam. Right next to it, Plaza de España adds the monumental tiled frame and the little boat rides on the canal, which the little ones love.
For something more intimate we head into the orange-tree lanes of Santa Cruz, or down to the bank of the Guadalquivir by Triana at sunset. I work to the children's rhythm, not the other way around: if they need a break, a snack or ten minutes to play, perfect, that's where the best photos come from.
I barely direct. I suggest small games — spot the pigeons, count the bridges, chase dad — and shoot while life happens. Parents are in the frame too, not just the kids.
Season, time and what you receive
Spring and autumn are best for families in Seville: pleasant temperature and comfortable kids. In summer the Andalusian heat is very strong for little ones, so we shoot at sunrise or in the late afternoon, always with shade and water on hand; midday is not an option.
A session lasts between one hour and an hour and a half, about as long as children's attention holds well. The golden hour at sunset gives the warmest light; in summer sunrise is a gift, cool and with the park to yourselves.
