Family lifestyle session — Seville

That's exactly why we choose the lifestyle style: that they never sit still isn't a problem, it's the material. I don't ask them to pose or look at the camera; I let them run, play and explore the park while I shoot. The movement, the laughter and even the odd meltdown make the most authentic photos. María Luisa is perfect because they have room to burn energy and we have time to capture it all.

It's completely normal and I plan for it. I work to the children's rhythm, not the clock: if they need a pause to snack, drink water or calm down, we stop without any trouble and I use it to photograph the parents or some detail. That's why I schedule the session outside nap hours and leave a time margin. A passing tantrum ruins nothing; sometimes the comforting hug that follows is the loveliest photo of the day.

You're all in them, and that matters. Day to day, parents always end up behind the camera and later there are hardly any photos together. In a lifestyle session I make sure to capture the whole family: parents playing with the kids, the hugs, the glances between the two of you and also a couple portrait while we're in Seville. The idea is that years from now you appear in your own memories.

No matching uniforms. I recommend comfortable clothes the kids can play in, in a palette of soft, harmonious colours — earth tones, off-whites, muted blues — that coordinate without being identical and that sit well with Seville's whitewash and tiles. Avoid big logos and very loud prints. As for props, better whatever is part of your life: a favourite cuddly toy, a ball, bubbles. That gives photos that are truly yours, not catalogue ones.
