Where to rent a studio in Barcelona, what an hour costs and what to check before booking. Every studio's details are verified on its own website.
Barcelona's studio market
Barcelona concentrates many of its studios in former industrial units in Poblenou and the 22@ district, plus smaller spaces scattered around Gràcia and the Eixample. The industrial units give you height and floor space; the Gràcia ones, proximity and keener prices.
Hourly rental usually starts at €20-25 for the bare space and rises to €29-45 with a lighting set included. Packs of 10 or 15 hours cut the rate by around 20-25%, so if you have a long production or shoot often, always ask about hour bundles.
What to check before you book
First decide what background you need: a built cyclorama (fixed curved corners) gives the cleanest infinity backdrop for fashion and product, while fabric or card cycloramas let you change colour but crease more. Confirm the width: 3.5-4 metres is fine for portrait, but groups or full-length want more.
Check too whether the space has overhead natural light — prized in the Gràcia and Poblenou units — and what access is like: a lift or goods lift if you're carrying kit up, and whether there's a makeup area and toilet. For heavy product or cars, street-level access makes the difference.
Studio or on location in Barcelona
A studio gives you full control and removes weather and crowds — worth weighing in such a tourist-heavy city. It's the logical choice for product, catalogue fashion, newborns and corporate portraits.
But Barcelona is one of Europe's most photogenic cities: the Eixample's Modernisme, the Bunkers del Carmel at sunset, the Born or Bogatell beach give a photo a context no set can match. For a love story, a family on holiday or brand content with local flavour, the street usually wins. Fotio assigns a photographer at home in both formats.

How much does it cost to rent a photo studio in Barcelona?+
Hourly rates usually start at €20-25 for the space and reach €29-45 with lighting included. Larger studios also sell half days (around €200) and full days (around €280). Packs of 10-15 hours cut the rate by roughly 20-25%.
What is a cyclorama and which one suits me?+
A cyclorama is a backdrop with curved corners that creates a seamless infinity background. Built ones are fixed and give the cleanest result for fashion and product; fabric or card ones let you change colour. For portrait 3.5-4 m wide is enough; for groups, more.
Is lighting included?+
It varies. In Barcelona a ladder is common: a base rate for the space and a higher one with a set of flashes. Some Gràcia and Poblenou studios add prized overhead natural light. Confirm what your rate includes when booking.
Where are Barcelona's studios concentrated?+
Mostly in the industrial units of Poblenou and the 22@ district, which give height and floor space, and in smaller studios in Gràcia and the Eixample, with keener prices and good metro links.
